Discover unforgettable diving adventures throughout Maui

The visibility astounded me when I jumped into the ocean within Molokini Crater for the first time! It was an epic moment to experience sea life in a different area of Maui after shore diving many times in Lahaina since we arrived.

The beach is named Slaughterhouse Beach because Honolua Ranch slaughterhouse and tanning/storage shed was situated near the cliffs edge. It was torn down in the 60s. The original Hawaiian name of the beach is Mokule’ia which sounds more pleasing, and it means “district of abundance”.

Mala Wharf is also called Mala Pier. It was once a shipping facility for Maui’s pineapple and agriculture. In 1992, a 30ft surf destroyed the end of the dock, due to Hurricane Iniki. The dive site is known for the many turtles that reside in the area.
